Strawberry Skies Weekly Jams: March 3rd, 2022

Welcome to the first Strawberry Skies radio show/weekly jams playlist of Macrh 2022! Today's show will include some new releases as well as my favorite springtime-themed songs.

If you're reading this between 6:00 and 7:00 PM EST on Thursday, March 3rd, you can listen live right now here. If you're not reading this during that timeframe, you can listen to what I played using this week's Spotify playlist here!

"Conversations" - Penny Bored

I've been working with Penny Bored for just under a year and they continue to amaze me with everything they release. Definitely give this one a listen if you miss 200s-era Avril Lavigne.

"all bets r off" - GET TUFF

GET TUFF's "in sickness and in hell" was one of the most underrated releases of last year in my opinion, so I'm beyond stoked that they're back with more music. Their new EP "TUFF LUV VOL. 1" is available everywhere now.

"Not Giving You Up" - Big Time Rush

Big Time Rush was my favorite band when I was 10 years old and they are still the best band in the world. That is all. This new song rocks.

"Something Sweet" - Mom Jeans.

Our wonderful photographer friend Abby Clare was able to photograph Mom Jeans. at their album release show for "Sweet Tooth" a few weeks back and we finally got the photo gallery up! Check out the new album everywhere, and check out the photo gallery here.

"Talking To Ourselves (IDLES Inner Monologue Remix)" - Rise Against

Seeing Rise Against last summer was one of the first "normal" things about the second part of 2021 for me, and even though they already held a special place in my heart, that memory just made me love them even more. This is a remix of one of my favorite tracks from their latest album "Nowhere Generation."

"COMPLETE MESS" - 5 Seconds of Summer

5 Seconds of Summer is another one of those bands that I loved back when I was 10 years old and I will probably never stop loving. I don't think they have a single song that I don't like. This new one is no exception.

"Daylily" - Movements

Movements was the first band I saw after I moved into my dorm at Quinnipiac, so they're another band that I have a special type of love for and special memories associated with. This song will always remind me of springtime.

"The First Days Of Spring" - Noah And The Whale

The title of this song explains why I associate it with springtime (obviously), but you should give it a listen anyway. I listen to this non-stop around this time every year, it's almost like a tradition at this point.

"Bee Sting" - Sam Pollet, Christa Ferry

Sam Pollet and Christa Ferry are two of the kindest, most talented humans that I know, and two of the best people that I've met through Long Island music. This song is absolutely a springtime staple.

"Bloom - Bonus Track" - The Paper Kites

This song will always remind me of when I was first learning to drive and I refused to drive anywhere but back and forth to my grandma's house. I played it in the car every time and it distracted me from all the behind-the-wheel anxiety. Another solid springtime song.

"In Bloom" - Neck Deep

Regardless of how many times I see or don't see them, or how much I listen or don't listen to them, Neck Deep will always be one of my favorite bands of all time. Hearing this song brings back so many amazing live music memories.

"If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)" - The 1975

This song or its title aren't necessarily associated with spring or warmer weather, but its sonic qualities just *feel* like spring to me, so I had to play it. Long live The 1975.
