Interview/Photo Gallery: Taylor Acorn on Touring, TikTok, and Taking Over Pop-Punk

This fall, up-and-coming pop-punk princess Taylor Acorn has been on tour with Real Friends, WIth Confidence, and The Home Team. On October 6th, she stopped at The Foundry in Philadelphia, PA, where Strawberry Skies's favorite photographer Abby Clare captured all the action of the night.

Keep scrolling for an exclusive interview with Taylor. We talked TikTok, the perfect emo songs for every situation, and more.

Jennifer Moglia: Thanks so much for doing this interview! How has tour been going so far?

Taylor Acorn: Of course! Tour has been nothing short of incredible. Of course, there has been some stress and things definitely haven’t been “perfect,” but the crowds and the bands we are touring with have been amazing and we’ve been having a lot of fun.

Jennifer Moglia: I’ve seen a bunch of your videos doing super well on TikTok - how do you feel that platform has helped your career? Is it easier to interact with fans there?

Taylor Acorn: To be completely honest, I think TikTok is the main reason why I’m even able to be on this tour. It’s really the only app that I’ve found that actually translates viewers to listeners.

For the last two years of posting videos I’ve been able to connect with so many people just about life and everything in between. It’s so crazy because now I get to see them all in person and it’s really surreal!

Jennifer Moglia: One of your most popular videos is a cover of “First Date” by Blink-182 as a wedding song. Which pop-punk song would you play at your wedding?

Taylor Acorn: Oh my gosh this is a hard one! I would probably play "Your Guardian Angel" by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, that song always gives me all the love feels. Also, I just think it’d be a really pretty first dance.

Jennifer Moglia: I’ve also seen you do some events with Emo Night Brooklyn which is awesome! What’s your go-to DJ song?

Taylor Acorn: I have a couple! I always play "Caraphernelia" by Pierce the Veil and everyone (usually) goes really hard if they know it.

I also love playing "The Sharpest Lives" by My Chemical Romance. People always get really excited about that one because I haven’t heard anyone else play it before!

Jennifer Moglia: How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t listened before? How would you convince them to listen?

Taylor Acorn: If Taylor Swift, Hayley Williams from Paramore, and Avril Lavigne got together and created a little human, that would be me! I usually always preface my music as like early 2000s pop-punk vibes...if someone likes that I always tell them they should check my music out!
